Inglewood Sun Festival

This saturday, August 2nd, head on down to the community of inglewood to participate in their Sun fest! The event runs from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, along 9th avenue at 11th street to 14th street!

They are advertising this as a family event that has something for everyone, including but limited to: a fantastic line up of performers,

Be prepared to be wowed. From daring sword swallowers to unicycle riding the Sunfest has an eclectic program of entertainment sure to please everyone in your family – we guarantee it.

There will be a show and shine, and its for a good cause!

Support the Servants Anonymous Society and show off your vintage, modern,  or custom ride at this year’s Inglewood Sunfest.  With over 30,000 people who come down to participate in the Inglewood Sunfest it’s a chance to show off your pride and joy.

We’re looking for car and motorcycle enthusiasts who want to be part of this fantastic festival.  From vintage to the latest models we want to see what you’ve got.  You’ll have the chance to win fantastic cash prizes and some shiny chrome hardware.

**Its 10 dollars to enter and you can register your shiny ride here!

It sure ain’t gluten-free but there will be a pie eating contest, which for you non celiac folks out there will be an absolute riot and you will all be entertainment for those of us who aren’t able to participate!  However should someone from the sun fest being reading this, at next years sunfest gluten-free pies would be appreciated by some but its just a suggestion!

And if the events aforementioned are not floating your boat there is still lots else to explore and enjoy:

We’ve partnered with Open Streets to bring you a people powered fun zone!  Be part of the fun with Open Streets.  Power the stage for the dancers, rollerderby demos, and musicians.  Or, try your hand at Ping Pong or button making.  If you just need a rest we’ve got that too with our grassy relaxation zone.

This area will also feature groups such as the Inglewood Community Association, and the Inglewood Community Garden.  Find it right next to Minh Chau, halfway between 12th and 13th Street.

Hopefully, there will be sun and good weather for the fine people of inglewood this saturday and for all of you who intend to join them! I have a feeling this will be one fun event to help kick off the last month of summer here in the yyc.
