Sun and Salsa Festival

Sunday from 11 am to 5:00 pm, the community of Kensington hosted the annual Sun and Salsa Festival here in Calgary. The aim? to support two local charities (Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association and Norfolk Housing) and taste some of Calgary’s finest in salsa.

Salsa was not the only event, amidst the food lovers paradise lay street performances and some of Calgary’s local colour.

Photos were not attained due to Calgary giving us it typical weather: unpredictable and miserable but I can say this: the Sun and Salsa fest makes for a wonderful afternoon, a chance to get together with friends and family and spend sometime out doors and eat some damn fine salsa.

I also must say kudos to those I saw purchasing their chips, the money went to two excellent causes and supports people within our Calgary community who need help. For those who brought their own, my plea to you is: next year, please purchase the chips available and give back to the community that is bringing you this lovely event.

This event was a celiacs paradise, with its corn tortilla chips and salsa! The Naaco truck as well as the Los Chilitos truck was there in case you were looking for some amazing gluten-free street food. This event boasted tons of celiac friendly options. As long as there is a Sun and Salsa Festival, I will be there thats for sure. Rain or shine, this was such a fun day and I enjoyed meeting local business owners and sampling their hard work, making salsa that delicious can’t be easy.
